Amy and her boyfriend were working through a lot of conflict when she decided to move out of their shared apartment and back in with her mother, taking their young son with her.
After begging her boyfriend for two years to be a “present” father, she’d finally decided she couldn’t continue parenting without any support from him.
Amy’s mother was more than happy to take her in, and was overjoyed at the opportunity to spend more time with her sweet grandson.
Amy hadn’t “felt like herself” for quite some time.
The adjustment into motherhood had been a challenging one for her, the relational conflict with her boyfriend was draining, and she was emotionally distraught after several abortions – her last abortion being only five months prior.
When she found out she was unexpectedly pregnant again, she couldn’t imagine getting yet another abortion – but she also didn’t think “she could survive” single parenting two children.
Although feeling heavily conflicted, Amy began searching online for an abortion facility.
Thanks to your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS (On-demand Alternatives to Abortion SYStem) Emergency Response ads, she was connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania instead.
Amy made an appointment, but promptly missed it.
She missed a second appointment as well.
And a third.
But after the center’s continued reaching out, and providing transportation, Amy finally appeared for her fourth scheduled appointment.
When she spoke with her client advocate, she confessed how guilty she felt for allowing herself to “get in this position,” stating, “I can’t believe I’m right back here again. It’s my fault for going back to him every time things get hard.”
Amy shared that her only support was from her mother and that her mother was begging her not to get an abortion.
She also shared that she was severely depressed after her last abortion, and “couldn’t stop crying.”
That was the only reason she was entertaining the idea of parenting this time around: she wasn’t sure she’d survive the trauma of another abortion.
By the end of the appointment, Amy was still undecided.
She made an appointment to return for an ultrasound – an appointment she once again, missed.
Then, over a month later, Amy appeared back at the pregnancy center, asking if she could have an ultrasound.
She shared that her mom was heavily encouraging her to return for the ultrasound and to choose life for her baby.
When Amy saw her son on the ultrasound screen, she was overcome with joy.
She made a definitive choice to continue the pregnancy and parent her new baby boy, now beaming with her innate “Mother’s pride.”
She returned several more times for resources and counseling – including connection for healing after abortion – and is now proudly parenting her two precious boys.
Praise God!
And thank you for the critical role you played helping connect Amy to the life-affirming help she needed – for both hope and healing!
