After graduating from high school, Kaitlin started a job waitressing in a small Mom-and-Pop restaurant in the heart of her hometown.

Although she’d always imagined herself moving away and “seeing the world,” it had been ten years, and she was still clocking into the same job every afternoon.

Her boyfriend was her high school sweetheart, but things had seemed to sour over the course of their ten-year relationship.

Kaitlin was considering cutting things off when she realized she was unexpectedly pregnant.

The timing “couldn’t be worse.”

After finally working up the courage to break up with her boyfriend, quit her job, and get out of her hometown once and for all, now she was expecting a baby…

To say the pregnancy “threw a wrench in her plans” was a massive understatement.

Kaitlin decided to get an abortion.

Although she was raised in church and considered herself a Christian, she assumed “God would understand why” she “needed” to get an abortion.

She started searching online for the nearest abortion facility.

Thanks to your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ads, she connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma instead.

Her boyfriend knew of the pregnancy, agreed that “abortion was the answer,” and accompanied her to the appointment.

Kaitlin made it clear to the center staff that they wanted an abortion.

She went into the counseling room alone with her client advocate and they discussed details about the abortion procedure and the baby’s development.

Within minutes, Kaitlin’s client advocate picked up on some subtle hesitancy from Kaitlin regarding the abortion.

Kaitlin opened up about feeling internally pressured to get the abortion because of her life circumstances, external pressure from her boyfriend to get an abortion, and also an inner conviction that abortion was… wrong.

Still, she wasn’t sure “what choice she really had.”

Thanks to your prayers and support, she was in just the right place to hear about her choices.

With permission, in addition to Kaitlin’s client advocate sharing about alternatives to abortion, she also shared about Jesus.

In that “Holy Spirit moment,” Kaitlin felt rejuvenated, and connecting with her Christian faith, empowered to choose life for her baby!

When she left the counseling room to share the news with her boyfriend, he stood up and immediately walked out, leaving her with no ride home.

If this wasn’t a sign that Kaitlin needed to move on from the relationship, she didn’t know what would be!

The pregnancy center provided a ride for her and discussed further support.

On that very day, with newfound courage, Kaitlin resolved to parent her baby, to dump her boyfriend, and to rededicate her life to Christ!

Praise be to God!
