Happy endings sometimes come with twists and turns.

In Bianca’s case, her “happy ending” differed from what we normally expect in a save story.

Bianca had grown up in a dysfunctional family and her relationship with her mom was, at best, contentious.

Her mother’s boyfriends would frequently take an interest in Bianca, inciting her mother’s jealousy.

Bianca and her two-year-old son, who battled a medical condition, had been living with Bianca’s mom, but had recently been kicked out following yet another argument.

With nowhere to go, Bianca and her son moved in with her boyfriend’s family.

Feeling desperately alone, depressed, and without resources when she found out she was pregnant, Bianca could not begin to contemplate the thought of providing for another child!

Determined that abortion was her only option, Bianca searched for information on RU 486, the abortion pill, and was connected to our Pregnancy Help Center partner in Austin, Texas, through a Heroic Media ad.

The center staff enveloped Bianca with loving compassion the moment she walked through their doors.

Accustomed to being judged and disparaged, Bianca was warmed by the love and compassion she received.

Having earned her trust, Bianca’s client advocate educated her about the adverse effects of abortion and offered practical ways the center and community could help Bianca.

The advocate proclaimed, “Once Bianca realized the pregnancy was ALREADY a living, breathing, baby, she changed her mind!”

However, weeks after she’d made the choice for life, Bianca suffered a miscarriage.

Although devastated, she was very thankful the pregnancy center had helped her choose life BEFORE the miscarriage.

While both abortion and miscarriage are pregnancy losses, her natural miscarriage did not inflict the guilt that surfaces following the choice to abort your baby.

Given Bianca’s history of emotional pain and trauma, choosing abortion would likely have trainwrecked her already fragile state.

Helping an abortion-minded woman choose life for her baby does not always mean that the baby will experience life outside of the womb.

It does, however, save the mother from making a choice that would have devastating consequences for her life.

Additionally, it often inspires her to make constructive choices, going forward, which spare her the anguished turmoil of contemplating abortion again.
