Ashley finally “did it!”

She’d made it to her senior year of college.

After countless hours of working full-time to put herself through school, studying, and parenting her small child, she was finally embarking on her final year of college.

She’d worked so hard to be able to provide a good life for her little family.

And she knew, in her core, that graduating from college would help her secure a professional career that wouldin turnset her family on a better trajectory.

Just as soon as the excitement set in, panic followed when she discovered she was… pregnant.

Having another child – especially “now” – seemed impossible.

“There’s no way I can finish school with a newborn baby to take care of…,” Ashley said to herself as she stared at the second positive pregnancy test.

She immediately began searching online for an abortion facility.

Within minutes, Ashley made an appointment with the center.

The client advocate she met with was calm and reassuring.

Though Ashley felt nervous and tense, she began to relax as she spoke with her advocate and went through the intake forms.

Soon after, the medical grade pregnancy test confirmed what she already knew: Definitely. Pregnant.

Walking through all options, her client advocate shared medically accurate information about what Ashley could expect if she chose to have an abortion.

They discussed the possible risks – both physical and emotional.

Ashley expressed that the father of the baby was just a friend, not someone she would expect to engage in a long-term relationship.

Her client advocate encouraged her to think about the others in her life who might be supportive.

Experiencing her advocate’s compassionate care, for the first time since getting the first positive pregnancy test, Ashley began to feel a sliver of hope.

Florida Law requires every woman to have an ultrasound before getting an abortion.

Still leaning toward abortion, Ashley scheduled a follow-up appointment with the center so she could get an ultrasound.

And – Praise be to God – when the picture of her baby showed up on the screen, Ashley stared unbelievingly at the beautiful, beating heart of her oh-so-tiny baby.

At that moment, she changed her mind.

She knew, in her core, that she could never take the life of her baby.

She chose to parent, continuing with school, and never looked back!
