The journey of growing older often comes with many strings attached: We acquire more responsibilities, we mature, and, ideally, we become more like Christ if we are in Christ.

While all of us will grow in the physical, biological sense, growing in maturity and in faith requires our hard work and commitment.

Ella wasn’t quite ready to make that commitment.

She was still very young and in high school when she suddenly realized she was facing an unexpected pregnancy.

Without hesitation, she began looking for a facility to get a “quick abortion.”

To say Ella was terrified of her parents finding out would be an understatement.

The father of the baby was not in the picture, and Ella had not shared her pregnancy news with a single soul.

She was determined to get “the quickest, quietest abortion” she could and “move on with her life!”

Her internet search for the nearest abortion facility, however, returned Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad, directly competing with the local abortion facility ads.

She was immediately on the phone with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

When speaking to the client advocate on the hotline, Ella asked for referrals to get an abortion “without needing her parents to get involved.”

And to preserve her privacy, Ella asked that she only be contacted via email, while at school.

Thankfully, the client advocate encouraged her to come in to see how far along she was before going any further, and Ella agreed to make an appointment.

Still in shock to discover that she was pregnant at all, she was also unsure about the dating of her pregnancy.

At her appointment a week later, her shock multiplied: During the ultrasound, Ella learned that she was 28-and-a-half weeks pregnant!

Clearly, she was much further along than she imagined possible!

Upon the discovery that her baby was already in the third trimester of development, Ella changed her mind about seeking an abortion and embarked on receiving prenatal care.

And after further consideration of her options, Ella began to pursue avenues for placing her baby for adoption.

After reaching full-term, Ella shared with her client advocate that she’d safely delivered her beautiful baby girl, and had made the decision to parent!

Sometimes God uses the most unexpected circumstances to grow us into maturity – and that’s exactly what has happened in Ella’s life over the past few months.
