Oftentimes, a woman chooses abortion not because she has no Christian beliefs; rather, the shame of a pregnancy out of wedlock is intensified against the backdrop of her Christian community and beliefs, which presents a main factor driving her abortion decision.

Amber instinctively knew she was pregnant even before she had her pregnancy confirmed – although her mind was in total denial.

Still in school, Amber had big plans for her future, and there was no way a baby would factor into those plans.

Furthermore, how could she face her family and church community with the news of having a baby out of wedlock, especially since she and her boyfriend were active in their church – and were youth leaders?!

Even though they believed abortion to be “against what we believe,” Amber could not conceive of any other option.

Googling “abortion options,” Amber was connected to Heroic Media’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Chicago.

Amber and her boyfriend met with a client advocate who empathized compassionately and helped them process what their heads were telling them –

“Abortion was their only option” – versus what they knew in their hearts.

That is, that God loved them as well as their baby, and abortion is never a part of His plans.

When they saw the ultrasound of their baby, Amber sobbed and said that it was “making her decision even harder.”

Knowing how much their faith mattered to them, their client advocate shared encouraging Scriptures from God’s Word and encouraged them to pray together about their decision.

She also processed with them their practical concerns about their future, and strongly encouraged Amber to talk to her mom, helping her work through her fear about doing so.

Abundant resource referrals were also provided for them.

Days went by without any word from Amber… as our Chicago partner continued to faithfully pray for this young couple and their precious baby.

Finally, Amber made contact!

She shared that, in spite of still being “very overwhelmed,” she and her boyfriend had made the firm decision to keep their baby and are very thankful for the help they received from the pregnancy center!

God be praised!
