Morgan felt like her life had never been more chaotic and out of control.
On top of substance abuse issues, an abusive boyfriend, family estrangement, and financial struggles, she recently realized she was pregnant.
In her own words, she was “100% committed to getting an abortion.”
Shortly after accepting that she was indeed pregnant, she began looking online for an abortion facility.
Thanks to your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ads, she was connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania instead, and made an appointment to be seen.
On her way there, Morgan had to call the pregnancy center multiple time for directions.
When she arrived, it was clear she was frazzled: she was difficult to understand, and her train of thought was “all over the place.”
One moment, she would espouse her commitment to getting an abortion, and the next moment, she wavered and considered parenting.
One moment, she was lamenting the fact that she was not yet engaged to her boyfriend, and the next moment, she was sharing tales of verbal and physical abuse.
Her client advocate struggled to keep Morgan calm over the duration of her appointment.
This was one of her toughest cases.
Eventually, Morgan shared about her substance abuse issues.
She told her advocate that she “would rather get an abortion than keep harming her baby with drugs.”
Her advocate shared resources on everything from recovering from domestic violence to substance abuse rehabilitation programs, and scheduled an immediate follow-up appointment for an ultrasound.
However, despite phone and text message exchanges, Morgan did not return for her ultrasound.
Instead, she made an appointment for an abortion.
Multiple advocates from the pregnancy center continued to reach out to Morgan.
Sometimes she would answer, and other times she would ghost them.
This went on for three weeks until one day, she showed back up at the center – still pregnant!
She told them she’d come straight over after walking out on her abortion appointment hours earlier.
Praise God!
Her advocates encouraged her to have an ultrasound.
Morgan agreed, enthusiastically.
To everyone’s surprise, she was nearing the end of her second trimester!
She was much further along than anyone expected.
When she saw her fully formed baby on the screen, she determined in that moment that she would absolutely not return to the abortion facility.
She chose life and decided she would parent!
In the weeks following the ultrasound, Morgan began a substance abuse recovery program.
With the help and support of the pregnancy center, she moved into a maternity home and filed a restraining order against her abusive boyfriend.
She began reading her Bible daily, and it was clear that she was making a genuine effort to turn her life around.
Weeks later, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl!
Thanks be to God – and thank you for the critical role you played helping connect Morgan to this life-affirming, life-supporting pregnancy center!
