Alexis considered her life “carefree”: She woke up every morning and enjoyed some time to herself before heading to her retail job.

After work she’d get together with friends or head home to snuggle with her cats on the couch in the company of Netflix.

She had a boyfriend, but they didn’t spend much time together apart from the weekends.

Having grown up in a stressful environment, Alexis felt very protective of her low-stress lifestyle.

For that reason, she wasn’t interested in a serious relationship, she had no ambition to advance in her career – and she had no desire to bring children into the world for quite some time.

It didn’t take much to “throw Alexis’ life” into a “state of chaos.”

When she started waking up with nausea, she began to imagine what life would look like with a… baby…?

And because she was an avid consumer of toxic media, she was only able to imagine the worst aspects of motherhood.

She understood, however, that there was no sense spiraling into anxiety without confirmation.

She went to the local convenience store to buy a pregnancy test.

When the test came back positive, Alexis called her mother.

She asked her for advice and listened intently.

Alexis was shocked by what her mother shared next:

When she was about Alexis’ age, she’d had an abortion…

…and this was something she greatly regretted because the emotional trauma from the abortion had stayed with her all these years later.

While Alexis appreciated the anecdotal advice, she wasn’t entirely convinced.

She began searching online for an abortion facility to get an idea of what the procedure entailed and how much it would cost.

Thanks to your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ads, she was connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Akron, Ohio instead of an abortion facility, and made an appointment to be seen.

When she arrived at the center, her client advocates shared similar information regarding abortion.

They spoke about the physical and psychological risks.

They also discussed alternatives to abortion.

Alexis was confident that she would either abort or parent.

When she saw her 10-week-old baby leaping on the ultrasound screen, she expressed that her heart was leaning toward parenting, but she was still undecided.

Upon following up, the pregnancy center learned that Alexis had decided against abortion and was going to parent her baby!

She was grateful for the support from family as well as from the center, and now feeling confident that the baby would ultimately bring her more joy than stress.

She even signed up for parenting classes!

Praise God for this amazing turnaround and change of heart and mind!

And thank you for the critical role you played in helping make Alexis’ decision for LIFE possible.

You are heroic!

Psalm 28:7: The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.
