“I will never let my child have the kind of childhood I had. Abortion might be the best way to protect my baby…”
To say that Donna had been through much in her life is an understatement.
Her mother was an alcoholic who had given birth to Donna when she was 15 years old.
Having grown up subjected to abuse, neglect and poverty, Donna had vowed that no child of hers would ever go through what she’d endured.
In spite of the challenges she faced, Donna excelled at school, achieving a 4.0 GPA.
Her goal was to become a nurse in order to be able to help her community.
When she found out she was pregnant, her first thought was that everything she had fought so hard for would be derailed.
“I can’t have this baby! I want to finish school. I’m about to break up with my boyfriend – he’s not a good guy. I’m living with my grandmother and she will kick me out if she finds out.
Also, my great-grandmother is dying. I can’t put more stress on my family. I believe in God, and I know abortion is wrong, but I just don’t see any other way out!”
But in God’s great providence, the connection made between Donna and our Pregnancy Help Center partner in El Paso, through Heroic Media’s OAASYS ad,proved to be the critical turning point.
The compassionate counseling Donna received helped her to realize that God is for her and her baby.
It took Donna several appointments over the course of many weeks, including seeing her baby on an ultrasound, before she finally made the choice for life.
During this time, her great-grandmother passed away – and the tragic mass shooting in El Paso occurred.
Both events crystallized for Donna the sanctity of human life and propelled her along the path of hope.
With newfound determination, Donna shared these empowering words with our partner as she confirmed her decision for life for her baby: “I can make this happen, with God’s help!”
Thank you for being Christ’s light to a young lady whose life desperately needed its illumination.
