When the father of a preborn child wants his baby to live, but his girlfriend decides to get an abortion, he is powerless in protecting the life of his child because the law maintains it is “her body, her choice” – the “power of ‘choice’” is legally hers and hers alone.

This was the conundrum in which Destiny’s boyfriend found himself.

Upon learning that she was pregnant, and immediately thinking abortion was the only answer, Destiny clicked on the top result in her Google search – Heroic Media’s OAASYS (On-demand Alternatives to Abortion SYStem) ad, connecting her to our Pregnancy Help Center partner in Tampa, Florida.

In her words, “I’m young. I still have lots of living to do. I want to finish school. I want to have fun and be able to go out with friends whenever I want to.

I cannot be tied down with a baby.” Destiny’s boyfriend, however, felt the opposite.

He was willing and prepared to help raise the baby, and made that clear to Destiny.

Our Tampa partner counseled both Destiny and her boyfriend, and, together, they saw the ultrasound of their baby.

Even after seeing the ultrasound, Destiny remained adamant about getting an abortion.

Her boyfriend was heartbroken.

He excused himself and left the center without her, unable to bear the thought of her aborting their baby.

Yet, with all hope seemingly lost, the center staff continued to follow up with Destiny, reaching out to her with patience and love.

They encouraged Destiny to return for a follow-up ultrasound so she could carefully process through this life-and-death decision.

Destiny reluctantly agreed, but did not show on the day of her scheduled appointment, and did not return subsequent phone calls.

Just when her client advocate was resigned that Destiny had likely had an abortion, Destiny called and asked if she could still come in for the repeat ultrasound!

Her boyfriend accompanied her, and after seeing the second ultrasound, coupled with the pledge of support and loving encouragement from both her client advocate and boyfriend, Destiny made the decision to choose life!

Destiny and her boyfriend both enrolled in the center’s parenting program and are looking forward to welcoming their baby!

Praise God!

Your support helped Destiny realize that her “power of ‘choice’” is best exercised making the empowering decision for LIFE.

Thank you and God bless you!
