AP (Associated Press) reporter and editor Tiffany Stanley recently published an article stating that there has been a nationwide expansion of maternity homes in the two years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and the federal right to abortion (August 2nd). The reporter noted that there are currently 450 maternity homes nationally (mostly faith-based). These homes provide more than just a place to live, but a supportive and nurturing environment for the pregnant women who rely on them.

We think that’s pretty awesome.

The First Step

The problem however is that no one knows about these services!

Most believe these homes became extinct when the states and orders of nuns gave up running these places in the 60s and 70s. And let’s face it, these homes for “unwed mothers” of yesteryear didn’t enjoy the greatest reputation in the first place. At that time, pregnant girls were pretty much hidden from society as an embarrassment.

That’s Where Heroic Media Comes In

Our mission at Heroic Media is to increase awareness of places like maternity homes as safe and nurturing places of care before a woman faces an unexpected pregnancy. We strive to create awareness of the many services available to women who face an unexpected pregnancy, even long before they may be in the difficult circumstances of dealing with an unexpected pregnancy.

We do this by building a network of services and creating awareness of the many resources that are open to women in the unexpected circumstances of carrying a child.

Outreach/Creating Awareness

Heroic Media begins by creating awareness of the many services available.…that women have options through advertising and marketing campaigns. We connect with women in difficult or unexpected pregnancies with the resources they need to choose life!

Let’s face it, it’s all too easy to make poor decisions when you feel your back is against the wall. This is especially true with an unplanned pregnancy! After all, abortion is an irreversible decision with life-altering consequences affecting them the rest of their lives.

And quite frankly, no one at an abortion clinic will help a woman deal with the trauma that follows their decision.

Just knowing that a woman has options, that is, a network of available services that are supportive and lifegiving for her and her baby changes her whole perspective! This offers hope, dignity, and respect for the mother, father, and child.

It’s not eliminating a mistake, or getting rid of an inconvenience. Heroic Media offers another option, a life giving option that will change their lives for the better! Remember that great line from the movie, “The Shawshank Redemption?” “(H)ope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”

Heroic Media creates awareness of the many services available to women as an alternative to abortion. That’s a job in itself! It’s hard to compete against the literally billions of dollars Planned Parenthood receives. But we’re doing it! Little by little, we’re making strides and offering an alternative!

Comprehensive Network of Care and Support

Creating awareness, and providing a network of support to women is imperative because of Heroic Media’s holistic approach that ensures that no woman is alone in making her decision and doesn’t feel pressured to make a decision she’ll regret later.

Conclusion

Heroic Media’s efforts to connect women with these resources are a vital part of this support network, demonstrating a deep and enduring commitment to both women and their children. The expansion of pro-life maternity homes since the fall of Roe v. Wade represents a significant and positive development in the support available to pregnant women in the United States. By providing housing, healthcare, and comprehensive support services, these homes offer women a real choice and the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their children.
