Mila was 15 weeks pregnant – and feeling scared.
She’d found out about her pregnancy a couple of weeks earlier, but she was “frozen with indecision” during the holiday season.
She had been dating her boyfriend for five years, and had two boys from a previous relationship.
Mila and her boyfriend felt they were “too unstable financially” to support a new baby – let alone a third child…
Now that she had entered the second trimester, Mila knew that she had to “make a decision” – and fast.
Abortion seemed in her mind to be the “best option”…
Could she even get an abortion in the second trimester…?
She began looking online for information.
Thanks to your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS (On-demand Alternatives to Abortion SYStem) Emergency Response ads, she was connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in New Orleans, Louisiana, and promptly scheduled an appointment.
When Mila arrived for her appointment, she was met by a kind client advocate who walked her through all of her options.
She was offered counseling and support, but still felt overwhelmed.
In the back of her mind, she was still considering getting an abortion – but…second trimester…?
She found the thought of it making her feel sick…
She could barely even bring herself to ask her client advocate for more information on abortion because she knew enough about them to admit that the procedures were… gruesome.
After a few hours of talking together, Mila agreed to an ultrasound.
Her boyfriend was able to get to the center in time to join her.
As they stared at the screen, they saw that their baby was very clearly a little girl.
Suddenly, all their fears seemed to dissipate as they began to talk about baby girl names and pink nursery designs…!
The couple decided that they could not abort this child – praise be to God!
They made the decision that they would parent their baby.
They were still feeling scared, but with the support and encouragement of the center staff, they also felt newly empowered that they could make it work.
The client advocates continued to provide Mila with financial and material resources as she continued through her pregnancy, as well as educational resources.
Mila was grateful to receive such an unexpected and overwhelming amount of support and guidance.
She also felt relieved that she’d made the right decision.
She and her boyfriend both decided to get better jobs and start saving for the birth and raising of their new baby.
They even began looking for church communities to get plugged into!
Thank you for the critical role you played in helping these parents choose LIFE – and to take these additional steps for their own growth.
You are heroic!
