Olivia, a 23-year-old from Oklahoma City, faced a life-altering moment when she found out she was pregnant by surprise. She had a complicated “friend” relationship with the father of the baby, so she certainly did not envision becoming a parent with him.

Olivia described herself as someone who “used to be a Christian.” Her faith journey took a drastic turn in 2020 when she had an abortion and felt abandoned by God, leading her to stop talking to Him. The weight of this moment brought her to tears as she shared her story.

In a moment of desperation, Olivia turned to the internet and clicked on a Heroic Media advertisement that led her to a pregnancy help center partner in Oklahoma City. At the pregnancy help center, Olivia was met with compassion and grace.

The counselor gently discussed fetal development, abortion procedures, and the associated risks—both physical and emotional. When Olivia realized she had experienced every emotional risk mentioned, it brought her a sense of relief knowing she was not alone in her feelings. The counselor reassured her, saying she was extra special to God because her heart was exactly where He wanted it to be.

Olivia’s mom was a pillar of support, urging her to parent the baby and promising to stand by her in every way. In contrast, the baby’s father was leaning toward abortion. Despite this, with Olivia’s permission, the counselor unpacked the gospel, leading Olivia to make a new profession of faith. Their time together ended in a heartfelt prayer.

Following the supportive counseling session and the ultrasound, Olivia made the courageous decision to continue her pregnancy.
