As we enter into this season of Advent, we are reminded that in all the messiness of life that we face, we have Jesus.
Advent means “coming”.
Jesus came the first time as a baby born in a lowly stable – the fulfillment of God’s promise from the very moment sin entered the world that He would bring a Savior to redeem and restore humanity to Himself.
The Hope of the World Himself came, and situations that once were marked by seeming hopelessness are now overwhelmed by hopeful expectancy!
Kristine felt hopeless.
The moment she found out she was pregnant, fear permeated her existence.
To be sure, she counted herself “lucky” because her boyfriend stood by her and told her he would support her decision “either way” – unlike many of her friends’ boyfriends, who had taken off once they’d learned of the pregnancies, or pressured their girlfriends to get an abortion.
However, the biggest roadblock for Kristine was her parents.
She felt extremely fearful of their reaction if she revealed her out-of-wedlock pregnancy to them.
All her life, she had worked hard for their approval.
Surely this news would devastate them, and they would be severely disappointed with her, wouldn’t they…?
Desperate for a solution, Kristine searched the internet for abortion options.
The top search result was Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad which connected her right away with one of our Pregnancy Help Center partners in Dallas, Texas.
She called and scheduled to come in immediately for an ultrasound.
At her ultrasound appointment, Kristine not only saw a clear image of her baby, she also saw her little one actively moving, showing off the lifeforce God had placed in him!
Stunned, Kristine exclaimed, “How can I go through with an abortion?!”
Once she heard his heartbeat, she began to sob.
She knew there was no way she could have an abortion after that ultrasound.
Yet – the fear of her parents’ reaction continued to torment her.
The pregnancy center staff compassionately helped Kristine process through her emotions, and pointed her to the hope she had in Christ.
He would help her face her parents, and open the way for reconciliation with them!
Clinging onto this hope, Kristine broke the news to her parents.
To her surprise, they resolved to fully support her in spite of their initial upset!
Hope never disappoints, and paved the way for Kristine’s baby’s life to be saved!
