Perhaps one of the biggest social ills of our times is that of fathers who have abandoned their responsibility to care for and parent their children.

Single mothers are left to do the best they can; yet, generations have grown up with a deep “father hunger” which has engendered negative psychological implications.

Most significantly, the reality of “the absentee father” makes it hard for one to perceive and receive God as the Good Father.

Addie did not grow up with her father in her life.

For the most part, it was not something she thought much about, as many of her friends were in the same boat – growing up single-parented by their mothers.

The one time Addie wondered if having her father around would have made a difference was when she found out she was pregnant at 15.

Upon discovery, Addie’s mother forced her to have an abortion.

The trauma from the abortion had a significant and lasting impact on Addie.

The grief still affected her deeply: she grieved not only the loss of her baby, but also the loss of her innocence.

Addie often wondered… Had her father been around, would things have been different…?

When Addie became pregnant again, her first instincts were fear and desperation.

Her boyfriend exerted strong pressure on her to have an abortion, including threatening to leave her if she did not.

Addie experienced a vivid flashback to when she was pregnant the first time at 15.

Once again, instead of showing her compassion, both her mother and boyfriend backed Addie into a corner where she felt that abortion was her only option.

Searching Google for abortion options, Addie found an ad which said, “You are not alone. We can help.”

The words resonated with her and she called the displayed number right away.

Unbeknownst to her, this was Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad which connected her to our Pregnancy Help Center partner in Jacksonville, Florida.

At the pregnancy center, Addie found the compassionate response she so desperately needed.

Addie’s client advocate helped her to see that she had the power to protect her baby – and her boyfriend’s threats could not override that.

She helped open Addie’s eyes to the God Who would provide for her and her baby, and He would be the Father for both of them.

This is the Father Who loved her so much He died on the cross to free her from the trauma of her past, and Whose resurrection imparted life-giving hope to her present circumstance!

This realization lifted a huge weight off of Addie and she found the courage she needed to make the choice for life!

Your support of Heroic Media made it possible for Addie, and other mothers like her, to be met with deep compassion in the midst of their unexpected pregnancies, and ultimately, find the love of the Good Father and make the choice for life.
