Our concept of God as the Good Father can become tainted by our experiences with our earthly fathers.
When one has suffered abuse and desertion by one’s birth father, it can be hard to believe and trust God to be the Father Who loves unconditionally and Who has promised to never leave nor forsake us.
Yet, God is the One Who relentlessly pursues with His never-ending, steadfast love!
He brings healing to the most broken heart, and, in so doing, breaks the chains of the past so the brokenhearted can receive His abundant life and choose life!
For Maggie, a “good father” was an oxymoron.
Maggie had suffered horrific abuse as a child, setting her life on a path of self destruction, including having three abortions, and the inability to create a stable life for herself and the three children she’d birthed.
Even though Maggie had known God, it had been years since she’d attended church, or prayed.
The deep-seated anger Maggie felt toward God for allowing the abuse and letting her life be “so messed up” had created a wall.
And, she was convinced that He would punish her by sending her to hell because of the things she had done.
When she discovered she was pregnant, she felt tormented inside.
She’d had three abortions.
She’d given birth to three children.
She knew, deep down, that the three abortions were mistakes.
But… since there would be no redeeming of any of her past mistakes, including the three abortions, what harm would adding one more abortion do?
In her Google search for information on abortion services, Maggie found Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad, and was instantly connected to our Pregnancy Help
Center partner in Oklahoma City.
Instead of going to the abortion facility to make another destructive choice, Maggie went to the pregnancy center.
Compellingly, her client advocate shared with her about the love of her Good Father.
She assured Maggie that God was not angry with her, but, rather, was about working redemption and healing in her life.
He loved her with an unconditional love – and had never left her side!
Maggie cried through most of her counseling session, her tears continuing to flow as the ultrasound revealed her tiny, six-week-old baby.
As her eyes locked onto the screen, her maternal instincts stirred within her.
Even so, she left the center undecided about what to do.
A few days later, Maggie let her client advocate know that, in spite of her many hardships, she realized that abortion would not be the right decision.
She chose life!
Never could she have imagined that God would use this unexpected pregnancy to draw her back to Him and prove His tender mercies toward her!
Yet, in turning back to God, receiving His love, and experiencing His work of healing,
Maggie was empowered to embrace the sanctity of her baby’s life!
Your support made the critical difference that gave Maggie and her baby a chance at living in the abundance God has promised them!
THANK YOU!
