Jessica had been a freshman in college for only three months when she woke up one morning and realized she’d been making foolish life choices since arriving at her university.
Just this past summer, she’d vowed to steer clear of parties, boys, drinking, and drugs, and to focus on her schoolwork instead.
However, just three months into her first year away from home, she found herself engulfed in a tsunami of poor choices.
Every morning she woke up, looked into the mirror, and proclaimed:
“That was the last time. Today is the day I turn my life around.”
But every night she found herself “drawn back” into one temptation or another.
Eventually, she began to worry about pregnancy and STDs… and asked a few friends about a local women’s clinic.
After they proved no help, she took to her phone to search for a place to get affordable testing.
Thanks to your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS (On-demand Alternatives to Abortion SYStem) Emergency Response ads, through that search she was connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and made an appointment.
When she arrived at the center, she was offered a free pregnancy test.
It was positive.
When her client advocate sat down with her to discuss her result, Jessica shared about her faith and “the war raging in her mind.”
She’d never imagined herself living this broken lifestyle, let alone facing an unexpected pregnancy at 19 years old.
Jessica shared that she believed abortion was a sin… but she also couldn’t imagine having a baby so young.
She was unsure who the father of the baby was… and she was filled with guilt over the dangerous substances she’d already exposed her baby to.
Abortion seemed to her to be “the best option”…
Thankfully, Jessica left the appointment with a commitment to consider all of her options.
She scheduled a follow-up appointment for an ultrasound a week later.
During the ultrasound, she was shocked to see her baby’s heart beating so strongly.
She could even make out arms and legs on the image… and could not believe how developed the baby was…!
She decided then and there to keep and parent her baby!
Praise God!
Her client advocates helped her find an OB to provide prenatal care.
Jessica returned to the center for material resources, to faithfully attend educational classes, and receive emotional support.
She stopped partying and began taking care of both her and her baby’s bodies.
This precious young college freshman was surrounded by a life-affirming community because of your support of OAASYS.
Thank you for playing such a vital role in protecting both of these lives!
