Nicki felt like her life was “one pregnancy scare after another.”

For months, she’d experience the same cycle: exhaustion and sickness, followed by anxiety over the fear of being unexpectedly pregnant, followed by menstrual period to confirm that it “was just a scare.”

Nicki was beginning to fear something deeper was wrong with her body after enduring several months of this.

Maybe she had a severe hormone imbalance, or an autoimmune disease…?

After all, she was gaining weight, despite her best efforts to diet and exercise.

Nevertheless, she felt that she couldn’t afford to see a doctor.

She was already mothering two small children and juggling a full-time job.

She and her boyfriend were making ends meet, but there was “absolutely no wiggle room” in their budget.

One morning, “the cycle” started again.

Nicki felt sick and was in constant pain.

But this time, she felt a new symptom: movement in her abdomen.

She’d felt phantom kicks after her last pregnancy, so there was a possibility she was experiencing the same phenomenon once again…

Regardless, she decided to look online for a place to get an affordable pregnancy test and possibly an ultrasound.

Thanks to your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ads, Nicki was connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and made an appointment to be seen.

At her appointment, Nicki explained her situation and was offered a test.

Within seconds, it came back positive.

Her immediate reaction was to ask her client advocates about abortion.

She knew that the abortion limit in Philadelphia was 24 weeks, and she knew abortion would be more expensive the further along she was in her pregnancy.

Since she’d continued to have regular menstrual cycles, she had no idea how far along she was.

She accepted the offer for a free ultrasound.

In the ultrasound waiting room, Nicki continued to verbally process with her client advocate.

She was primarily abortion-minded, given her financial circumstances and the age of her youngest baby.

If she could get a legal abortion, even up to 24 weeks, she said she would do so.

When the ultrasound began, everyone was in shock.

Nicki’s baby was measuring 37 weeks– a full-term baby, due any day!

When she heard this news, her demeanor changed immediately.

She couldn’t stop laughing and smiling!

“I guess I’m having a baby!”

She seemed genuinely relieved and excited.

She then added, “I was actually a little scared to get the abortion, so I’m happy that’s not even an option anymore.”

 Praise be to God!

And thank you for the critical role you played helping connect Nicki to true, life-affirming care and support at OAASYS’s pregnancy center partner!
