Riley had spent the day rushing to and from appointments.
First, nails with her closest girlfriends, followed by hair with her track teammates, and finally, makeup with her Mom.
It was the eve of her Senior Prom, and there was excitement in the air and around every corner!
Riley looked gorgeous, and had big plans for the night.
First, she’d meet up with her girlfriends and ride to dinner where they’d meet their respective dates.
Riley was in a committed dating relationship, and this was her senior year.
Nothing could bring her down!
Already having signed with a university to run collegiate track, Riley viewed the night as a sort of “last hoorah” with her friends before moving away and starting a new chapter.
She hadn’t quite “felt herself lately,” but was trying not to let that get in the way of her big night.
While sitting down with her Mom, who was putting the final touches on Riley’s smokey eye, Riley began to voice some of her discomforts out loud.
Riley’s Mom listened closely, and it wasn’t long until bells started going off in her head.
She spoke up and asked Riley if it were possible for her to be pregnant.
Five long minutes later, they had their answer.
Riley’s at-home pregnancy test was dawning two bright pink lines.
Suddenly the mood of the evening took a dramatic turn.
Riley didn’t feel the least bit ready to be a parent.
Her life was “just beginning,” and she had all the cards stacked in her favor.
Riley and her mother both considered abortion to be “the obvious choice” and began searching for a nearby abortion facility.
Within seconds, their search triggered Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad and Riley was connected to a client advocate at OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Alliance, Ohio.
The next day, Riley shared the news with her boyfriend.
He voiced that he supported Riley in whatever decision she made and even offered to accompany her to her appointment at the pregnancy center.
During their appointment, they smiled as they beheld their baby’s hands and feet wiggling around on the ultrasound screen!
Seeing the wondrous humanity of their tiny, living baby, they made the decision together not to abort, but to parent their baby!
Praise God!
This wasn’t the “sport” Riley had “planned on playing” after graduating from high school, but it will, without a doubt, be a most fulfilling venture!
Thanks to YOUR SUPPORT of Heroic Media’s OAASYS, Riley and the baby’s father are stepping out in courage and bringing this precious little life into the world!
