As a single mom, Sierra was working two jobs to make ends meet for her family of three.
She adored her two children and was willing to do whatever it took to provide for them.
Sierra never imagined she’d even consider getting an abortion… but that’s exactly what happened when she realized she was pregnant with a third child.
Panicking, Sierra believed “the best way” to care for her older children was to “abort her third.”
She began searching online for the nearest abortion facility.
As a direct result of your support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ads, she was instantly connected with OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Tulsa, Oklahoma instead.
As soon as Sierra spoke with the compassionate hotline staff member, she promptly made an appointment to be seen.
Once at the center, she spoke about her struggle to provide for her family, and how surprised she was to find herself so immediately thinking that abortion was “the answer.”
Yet there she was: abortion-minded… but also feeling conflicted.
Her client advocates counseled her on the facts about the abortion procedure.
She consented to watching a video that outlined the different abortion procedures and explained the risks.
After watching it, Sierra stated that, “Although life is challenging, I cannot imagine ‘not’ having my kids.
“I’m beginning to think that if I go through with the abortion, I might regret it for the rest of my life…”
Sierra’s hesitation grew as she prepared to go into the ultrasound room.
As the conversation progressed, she opened up about her relationship with God.
She considered herself “religious” and expressed worry about the spiritual implications of abortion.
Once again, her client advocate was ready to compassionately navigate the conversation, and did so in a way that shone light on the goodness of the Gospel.
She shared that God loved the baby in Sierra’s womb as much as He loved Sierra and her two older children.
She shared the confidence we have in Christ and His promise to look after and provide for His children.
Upon reflecting on these truths, Sierra was able to identify God’s Sovereign Hand in her life.
She shared, “God has always provided for us, even when I thought we ‘weren’t going to make it.’
“In fact, I think He’s providing for us right now by the fact that I’m sitting in this room and not at an abortion business…!”
This realization helped prepare Sierra for what was next.
As soon as she saw her little baby on the ultrasound screen, Sierra knew she could no longer abort.
And with a new sense of excitement and comfort, she also knew that God – and the center – would help her on her journey.
God was already at work providing for Sierra before she even realized it.
Her advocates at the center told her about the wealth of resources available to assist her, helped her get set up with an OB/GYN for pregnancy care, and equipped her with information about financial and childcare assistance.
Praise God!
