Truth Over Assumptions: Carrie’s Story

Assumptions can be dangerous things. Especially when decisions are predicated upon them.

Assuming that our assumptions are valid, instead of testing them against truth, enables lies to take hold of our thoughts, ultimately corrupting the decisions we make.

Frequently, a woman makes the decision to have an abortion because she assumes her family will be angry and denounce her pregnancy – and the resulting fear generated by her assumption impacts her decision to abort.

Carrie had been the apple of her parents’ eye, and their approval meant the world to her.

They had made clear their strong expectation that she would go to college and she was determined to fulfill their expectation.

Consequently, when she found out she was pregnant, fear gripped her heart.

She immediately assumed that they would be devastated if they found out.

She felt unable to face their wrath.

Abortion would be her only option.

Carrie immediately turned to Google and searched for abortion options on her phone.

The first search result she clicked on was Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad, which connected her to one of our Pregnancy Help Center partners in Dallas.

The center’s hotline staff educated Carrie on the importance of obtaining counseling and an ultrasound before an abortion decision, and convinced her to make an appointment to come in.

As soon as Carrie walked through the doors of the pregnancy help center, a sense of calm descended upon her. She had felt only panic until this point.

Carrie soon realized that she was not alone in her situation, a reality made clear by the compassion shown to her by the client advocate’s tangibly demonstrating God’s love.

Her client advocate gently helped Carrie see how, even though she assumed that her parents would be angry and disappointed with her, the one thing she could be sure of was their unconditional love for her.

Realizing this truth freed Carrie from her fears as she came to understand that her parents would stand by her.

She bravely made the decision to break the news to them.

To Carrie’s joy, her parents expressed total support for both her and her baby, their grandchild!

Carrie was equipped to be able to fully embrace her pregnancy, and she chose life!

Your support of Heroic Media helps so many, like Carrie, see past the lies of their assumptions about their unexpected pregnancies.

THANK YOU for empowering them to make the choice for LIFE!
