Lies from the enemy of our souls are one of the main culprits motivating a woman to choose abortion.
When she grasps the truth of how God esteems her and her baby’s life, she is set free from the talons of abortion and empowered to slam shut the door on abortion.
“I’m not having this baby. Now, or ever,” Linda bluntly stated to the hotline staff at our Pregnancy Help Center partner in Jacksonville, Florida.
Linda had just found out she was pregnant – and her doctor told her she was already 18 weeks into her pregnancy.
Stunned, she immediately searched the internet for abortion options and found Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad, connecting her with our PHC partner.
Desperate for help, Linda made an appointment for the very next day.
She was accompanied to the appointment by her boyfriend, who, like Linda, was adamant about terminating the pregnancy.
Linda was 38 years old, and her boyfriend was 47 – both with grown children and feeling that they were too old to be having a baby.
Prior to finding out about her pregnancy, Linda had also been drinking alcohol.
They were concerned that the baby would be “unhealthy.”
The only reason they were hesitating at all about getting an abortion right away was the discovery that Linda was already 18 weeks pregnant.
With great compassion, the pregnancy center staff presented truths to them, and in doing so, unraveled their misconceptions.
She helped them understand that, while alcohol can impact a preborn baby, many women who have consumed alcohol during their pregnancy go on to have healthy, full-term babies.
Aborting simply because they “thought something could be wrong” would preempt the full potential of their baby’s life!
The advocate went on to explain the truth of what a second-trimester abortion does, especially the fact that the baby would feel the pain of the devastating procedure while being killed.
When Linda heard this, she put her hands over her face and cringed, demonstrating its deep impact.
Then, the ultrasound.
Seeing and hearing the strong heartbeat from her baby, and life pulsating through her baby from that heartbeat, Linda again placed her hands over her face, overwhelmed with emotion.
The sonographer was able to determine the gender: a boy!
She pointed out his perfect little toes and feet, his cute little nose, his lips – as he actively moved all around, showing off to his parents the life force within him.
The most important truth impressed upon Linda was that God was with her, and in His infinite love for her, would work in her situation and cast out her anxieties and fears.
The morning after her appointment, Linda called to share that she had made the decision to choose life!
