A life in Christ is not absent from storms.
Yet, He already knows every storm we will encounter, and has already made provisions for our deliverance.
Choosing to put our faith and trust in Jesus when we are undergoing trials renders us “weatherproof” from the storms of life.
We can be “in the storm,” but the storm does not need to be “in us!”
Lindsey felt that she was at her breaking point when she called OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Akron, Ohio.
She had a two-year-old son, and was distressed when she found out she was pregnant again.
The father of her son, and this baby, was abusive, and had already made her fear for her life.
Having abandoned her when she was pregnant the first time, yet returned, he threatened to abandon her again because she was pregnant.
Lindsey’s father, her last living relative, had passed away a year ago.
She’d also had an abortion at the time her father died.
The culmination of these losses had left her suffering in a state of perpetual trauma.
Fear was overwhelming her.
As much as she dreaded going through the trauma of another abortion, she did not think there was “another option.”
It was Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad which connected her with OAASYS’s Akron partner when she searched the internet for abortion services.
The compassion communicated by the hotline staff alleviated her panic, thanks be to God!, and she made an appointment for an ultrasound.
The client advocate Lindsey met with was the breath of fresh air she needed.
She assured Lindsey that abortion “did not need to be her ‘only option’” – especially since it would undoubtedly re-traumatize her after her last abortion.
She further encouraged Lindsey that even though she felt all alone, Jesus had never left her side and He would help her weather this storm, if she would put her faith in Him.
A miracle was in the making in these very moments!
The love of Jesus that Lindsey experienced through her client advocate pierced through the shroud of fear, infusing her with resiliency even in the midst of her circumstances!
The ultrasound showed Lindsey that she was 8.5 weeks into her pregnancy.
She was able to clearly see her baby’s formed body and heartbeat.
Any lingering thoughts about aborting her baby were completely obliterated by seeing the ultrasound!
Lindsey connected with the life of her child within her, and the powerful experience of Jesus’ love propelled her to choose life!
The pregnancy center committed to walking alongside Lindsey throughout her pregnancy and to help her secure the material resources she needed for herself and her baby – as well as helping her with legal action against the father of the baby for the
abuse she’d suffered at his hands.
