Jesus promises that “My yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30).
Striving on our own strength is what is hard!
To be yoked to Christ means that the Son of God pulls our load with us.
For every abortion-minded individual who is weary with her burdens, what could be greater comfort than to be yoked to Jesus and have Him pull her load with her?
Lily had just graduated from high school.
She and her boyfriend were deeply in love, and were discussing marriage for some time in the near future.
Being pregnant was “not” a part of their immediate plans.
Lily panicked when she discovered she was pregnant and immediately searched the internet for abortion options.
Through your generous support of Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad campaign, she was connected to OAASYS’s Pregnancy Help Center partner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and made an appointment to be seen.
During her intake session, Lily shared that the main reason she was considering abortion was because she did not think she would have the support of her parents.
She feared they would disown her like they had disowned her sister when she became pregnant and had refused to have an abortion.
She further revealed that both she and her sister had been adopted, and because of the poor conditions in which she grew up, she would not consider adoption for her baby.
Her client advocate ministered to her with great compassion.
She asked Lily if she believed in Jesus, and found out that even though she did not grow up going to church, she had a hunger to know more about Him.
Her client advocate shared with her the deep love Jesus had for her, and the beautiful assurance that He would bear the load of all those who come to Him, exchanging their heavy burdens for His “easy yoke.”
Lily wanted to believe in the Gospel message.
Yet, her desire to have an abortion stood in the way.
She knew if she accepted Jesus that He would not want her to have an abortion.
Undeterred, her client advocate continued to minister Jesus’ love and explained how being yoked to Jesus meant she would never have to walk through her trials alone, and that His Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, would help her make the right decisions.
Convinced, Lily made a profession of faith!
Receiving Christ began an immediate work in her heart to change her mind about the abortion!
Any lingering doubts she had about continuing with her pregnancy were eliminated when she saw the ultrasound.
To her complete surprise and shock, she was pregnant with twins!
Lily exclaimed, “I’m keeping my babies! I can’t abort two babies!!”
And though she expressed being both “excited and scared,” her countenance radiated joy because she knew she was making the right decision.
The life transformation which began when she received Jesus was taking root.
He was showing her how His yoke indeed was easy and He had exchanged her heavy load for His light burden!
