The story of how David slayed the giant Goliath is one that is familiar to us all.

Goliath’s main tactic was to intimidate the cowering Israelites with his physique and threats.

Comparing themselves to him, it was no surprise that they would be “wracked with fear.”

David, however, compared Goliath with his God Almighty, the “Lord of Hosts” (1 Samuel 17:45), in Whose name he came to fight the battle, and knew that victory assuredly belonged to God.

Like David, we have been given the power to slay the metaphorical “giants” in our lives, such as fear and doubt, when we claim the Name of the Lord and ask Him to fight our battles for us!

When John’s girlfriend Sara broke the news of their unexpected pregnancy to him, he was immediately gripped by fear.

“How could they raise a baby out of wedlock?”

He had great plans for his career and still “had his life to live” before “being tied down” with raising a family.

He felt utterly unprepared for fatherhood and, frankly, did not think he could shoulder the burden.

Sara felt the same way.

Both decided abortion would be the way to proceed.

They searched the internet for abortion information and called what they thought was an abortion provider.

Providentially, what they had found at the top of their search results was Heroic Media’s OAASYS Emergency Response ad!

Instead of an abortion provider, they were calling our Pregnancy Help Center partner in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The hotline counselor helped them understand the importance of obtaining an ultrasound prior to an abortion and was able to convince them to schedule an appointment.

At the center, a male client advocate met with John while a female client advocate spoke with Sara.

The male client advocate communicated great empathy towards John’s situation and helped him understand that God was for him, not against, and that He would help John “slay the giants of fear and doubt” regarding this unexpected pregnancy.

All he had to do was trust!

During the ultrasound, John was visibly moved by the image of his preborn child.

In that moment, as he beheld his child on the screen, courage welled up within him and he became strongly protective!

For the first time, he felt excited by the prospect of fatherhood, and even offered to Sara to raise this child by himself if she did not want to.

Thankfully, Sara, too, was moved by the ultrasound and realized that abortion was not what she wanted either.

Both made the decision to continue with their pregnancy!
